Build a total-scope comparison
Record each line as included, excluded, estimated or unknown. An unknown is not automatically a hidden fee, but it is a decision risk that should be resolved or accepted deliberately.
- Supplier pickup and origin handling
- Warehouse receiving, measurement or approved packing work
- Main freight and carrier surcharges included in the quote
- Destination handling, customs responsibility and delivery
- Known appointment, access or fulfilment requirements
Check chargeable data
Air and express comparisons can change when final dimensions create a different dimensional weight. Ocean planning can change when volume, loading or consolidation assumptions change. Date the package data used in each quote and recalculate when it changes.
Include time and handling exposure
A slower option may be economically correct when inventory timing allows it. A faster option may protect a customer commitment or stock position. Additional transfers, consolidation waits and appointments can also add uncertainty. These are trade-offs to discuss, not universal reasons to choose one mode.
Present a recommendation with conditions
A useful recommendation says which option fits the current priority, why, what assumption matters most and what change would trigger a new decision. Final rate, validity, capacity and acceptance remain subject to current verification.
